What is nasheed vs naat?

NAAT (NAAT SHARIF) IS A POEM THAT IS RECITED IN HONOR OF THE HOLY PROPHET MUHAMMAD. IN THE OLD DAYS, MASNAVIYAT USUALLY STARTED WITH HAMD (PRAISING ALLAH) AND AFTER HAMD IT WAS CALLED MANAJAT BUT LATER ON THE POEM BECAME A PERMANENT GENRE OF SPEECH AND THEN MASNAVIYAT STARTED WITH THE POEM ITSELF. THIS GENRE HAS BECOME VERY POPULAR IN ISLAMIC POETRY. THE FIRST NAAT RECITER IN ARABIC POETRY IS HASSAN BIN THABIT. IN URDU, HAZRAT IMAM AHMAD RAZA KHAN BARELVI HAS WRITTEN MANY FAMOUS NAATS AND MANY OTHER CONTEMPORARY MUSLIM POETS HAVE WRITTEN POEMS IN THIS GENRE.
